We are thrilled to announce that Rebecca and I have accepted a position as the 11th and 12th grade Sunday School teachers at Trinity Baptist Church! We were offered this wonderful opportunity by the Student Minister, Michael Bates, and after much prayer (and the confirmations I wrote about in “When God Speaks“), we humbly accepted the position. It’s amazing to watch God work things out when we are presented with a new opportunity for ministry. There is a perfect peace, confidence, and anticipation to see what God will do through us as we walk in His Spirit. We know that He equips those He calls, so there is no anxiety; we can always trust in His faithfulness. All that He really asks from us is that we make ourselves available, and be obedient to do what He tells us to do when He leads. I’m reminded of the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah Chapter 6 and verse 8 when the Lord asks, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for Us?” And without hesitation, the prophet responds, “Here I am. Send me.” This is the heart of the servant: always available, listening intently for his Master’s voice, and quick to act in obedience. Rebecca and I pray daily to maintain this attitude toward service. Here we are, Lord. Send us.
I awakened Sunday morning at 6AM, wide-eyed and ready to go (okay, I admit Rebecca was not thrilled that I was up so early!). We were both anxious to get to church and meet our students. And what an amazing group of young people they are! We really look forward to getting to know them in the coming months as we continue to study God’s Word and Christian Apologetics together.
In the evening service, we were able to watch Clayton and my mother-in-law speak about their missions trip to Brooklyn New York. It was wonderful to hear how God has moved in their lives as they answered the pastor’s questions during a Q&A session. All in all, it was a marvelous Parents Day!
In His Perfect Love,
