Today our family celebrates a major milestone. For most, it’s just another one of their kids’ birthdays, but for our family, this is a joyous confirmation of God’s divine healing power, faithfulness to prayer, and faithful parenting.
Our middle son, Duncan Bruce, turns 16-years-old today. I’ll never forget the day a grim group of psychiatrists sat me down and told me that Duncan was uneducable. They said that Duncan would never be able to attend a regular school–in fact, it was their “professional opinion” that he should be placed in a home for the mentally handicapped because he would never be able to live a “normal” life.
I wept openly. But what I did after that made all the difference. I began praying regularly for Duncan–asking God to divinely heal him. I decided that I would tenaciously fight to keep Duncan in regular schools. I also decided that I would redouble my efforts to provide a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for him.
Praise God, I am thrilled to say that today Duncan is not only functioning “normally” on his own, but he is a sophomore at a regular high school with a strong B average. He is excelling in all subjects–including JROTC. His high school and Sunday School teachers have nothing but praise for him.
This is nothing short of a divine miracle, brothers and sisters! I’m reminded of our Lord Jesus’ words in Mark 9:23: “Anything is possible if a person believes!” If you or a loved one are in need of a healing touch today, I encourage you to cry out to Jesus in faith. He healed my son, and He can do the same for you!
